GUIDELINES FOR COMMITMENT TO LORAIN COUNTY JAIL
When committing yourself to Lorain County Jail, enter the lobby area of the Sheriff’s Office and notify the lobby personnel or by using the provided lobby phone. Everyone who reports for jail time is subject to search by an officer and body scan.
FUNDS: At the beginning of the booking process all approved currency will be secured in a kiosk and placed on an account in your name for purchase of commissary items. When you are released, the remaining funds on your account will be issued in:
- Check Form – If being transported to a state institution or another agency
- Prepaid Debit Card Form – if you are being released from custody of this facility
TELEPHONE ENROLLMENT: Voice enrollment in the telephone system is required for access. This will be done in booking. It is not required of you to enroll but you will not be able to make telephone calls in the housing areas if not enrolled. If you refuse to enroll and later change your mind a request can be forwarded to the Officer in Charge. As operations permit you will be taken to booking for enrollment.
VISITATIONS: Inmates have access to visitation after they have completed the inmate orientation period. Each housing unit has different times and days. Video visitation is available through the link on our website.
