
Major Donald Barker
Major Barker began his career in 1981 as an Auxiliary Deputy with the Sheriff’s Office, while farming full time. After completing the basic police academy in 1987; he worked narcotics in Wayne and Medina Counties, and as a police Officer for the Village of Grafton. Since 1993 he has worked for the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office; where he has held positions as a communications officer, deputy sheriff assigned to narcotics, and road patrol . In 2002 he was promoted to Sergeant in charge of various shifts and the Justice Center. In 2007 he became the supervisor of the detective bureau. In 2013 he was promoted to Lieutenant. On April 18th 2016, he was promoted to Director of Investigations with a rank of Detective Captain. He has attended the Ohio State University, Lorain County Community College, and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Baldwin Wallace University. He has completed numerous training programs regarding investigations, interviews, and the FBI Command Leadership Seminar. Donald Barker was promoted to Major on April 14, 2019 and oversees the Law Enforcement and Detective Bureau Lieutenant. He is commander of the Drug Task Force.
