Police Canines save literally hundreds of man hours each year searching for criminal suspects and missing persons.

Police K-9's, with the use of their special sense of smell, can search the same location for a person in fractions of the time that a Deputy could. This ability allows a quicker process, freeing Deputies for more patrol time and community service.

The Sheriff's Office Patrol Division currently has 3 K-9 Units, Deputy Bob Perkins/K-9 Drago, Deputy Dave Lottman/K-9  Jake, Deputy Bryan Barnes/K-9 Ozzy. The K-9's are professionally trained in locating, controlling and apprehending criminal suspects, crowd control, locating missing or lost persons, narcotics detection and protecting their handler from harm.

The Sheriff's Office Corrections Division currently has 2 K-9 Units, Officer James Garza/K-9 Yasko and Officer Mike Mettler/K-9 Casper. These units operate within the County Jail and are professionally trained in narcotics detection, assistance calls within the jail, riot control and protecting their handler from harm.
