Lorain County Sheriff's Command Staff
Captain Dennis E. Cavanaugh was appointed a Deputy Sheriff at the Lorain County Sheriff's Office on September 5, 1973. He was promoted to Sergeant on August 13, 1979, to Lieutenant on May 22, 1981 and Captain on December, 01, 1988. He has worked many capacities in his 28+ year career with the Sheriff's Office. He is presently the Lorain County SWAT commander and is in charge of the Anti-Drug unit. He is also the head of the Lorain County Anti-Terrorism Task Force.
Captain James Drozdowski began his career as an Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff in 1982 attaining the rank of Lieutenant in 1986.

In 1985 Drozdowski was hired as a Vehicle Maintenance Coordinator at the Sheriff's Office motor pool where he helped create our current Race Against Drugs Program. In 1988 he became the Police Chief of Grafton until 1995 when he was appointed a Deputy Sheriff.

As a Deputy, James assisted in creating our current Community Policing Program and worked as a Community Police Officer until 1999 when he was promoted to Sergeant. As Sergeant, James transferred to the Detective Bureau as supervisor for several years.

In 2001, James promoted to Captain and attended the FBI National Academy in Virginia, graduating the class of #212. Captain Drozdowski was placed in charge of the Law Enforcement Division where he served until being placed in charge of the Corrections Division.

Captain John Reiber began his career with the Lorain Police Department on March 08, 1973 as a Patrol Officer. In 1989, John was promoted to Sergeant and then Lieutenant in 1992 before promoting to Captain in 1995. After almost 28 years of service, he retired from the Lorain Police Department on January 13, 2001.

During those years of service, he worked as a Patrol Officer, Line Sergeant and Shift Commander. After promotion to Captain, he served as Criminal Investigations Commander and as Patrol Division Commander. John was a member of the Lorain Police S.W.A.T. Team for five years, becoming the S.W.A.T. supervisor and S.W.A.T. Commander for three years. He graduated from the Southern Police Institute at the University of Louisville in May of 1997.

On January 24, 2001 John was hired by Sheriff Stammitti to serve as Captain in charge of Administrative/Personnel Division at the Sheriff's Office.
Captain Richard Resendez is a 26 year veteran of Law Enforcement, having retired from the Lorain Police Department in 2002. Prior to retiring from Lorain Police Department, Captain Resendez commanded the SWAT unit, the Criminal Investigation Bureau and the Crisis Hostage Team for Lorain Police Department. Captain Resendez also served as the Public Information Officer and the Director of Training and Personnel. He is a graduate of the Lorain County Community College and a 1998 graduate of the FBI National Academy, Class #194. In 1997, he received the National Association of Police Organization Top ten "Top Cop" award in Washington D.C.

Captain Resendez is currently in charge of the Law Enforcement Division.

Lieutenant Luis Silva

Lieutenant Silva was appointed as a Deputy Sheriff in 1981. He has worked as a Detective and the Anti-Drug unit before being promoted to Sergeant in 1997.

In 1999, Lt. Silva promoted to Lieutenant and became shift operations supervisor of the Road Patrol. Lt. Silva is also a supervisor on the Lorain County SWAT Team.
Lieutenant Douglas Newman
 
Lieutenant Newman was appointed as a Corrections Officer in 1980. He promoted to Sergeant in 1985 and then to Lieutenant in 1988. He became a certified peace officer in 1990.

Lt. Newman served as the Lieutenant in charge of Corrections operations before being assigned to the Court Division, where he supervises the Court Services Unit.
Lieutenant Clinton Kendricks
 
Lieutenant Kendricks was appointed as a Corrections Officer in 1982 and promoted to Sergeant in 1985. He promoted to Lieutenant in 1988 and became a certified peace officer in 1990.

He is the supervisor of the Records Division and oversees Booking and Logistics in Corrections. Lt. Kendricks also oversees computer operations and serves on the Lorain County Data Board.
Lieutenant William Davis

Lieutenant Davis has been with the Lorain County Sheriff's Office since 1980. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1988 and then to Lieutenant in 1999. He is currently in charge of the Civil Division.
Lieutenant Jack Hammond

Lieutenant Hammond was hired as a maintenance employee in 1979 before becoming a Corrections Officer in 1985. He became a shift supervisor after promoting to Sergeant in 1989 and as also served as a booking supervisor and Corrections scheduling before promoting to Lieutenant in 1999. He is currently the Operations Lieutenant, overseeing all daily operations of the jail.
Lieutenant Deb Stanko

Lieutenant Stanko began her career as a secretarial officer. Hired by Sheriff Vernon Smith in 1978, Lieutenant Stanko continued in that capacity until she became a certified peace officer In 1984.  in 1996 she transferred to the Detective Bureau  in charge of Evidence.

Promoted to Sergeant In 2001 then to Lieutenant in 2004. Lieutenant Stanko now serves as Administrative Secretary to Sheriff Stammitti.

Lieutenant  Mike Crum

Lieutenant Michael Crum has been with the Lorain County Sheriff's Office since 1994. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1997and Lieutenant in 2004. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Youngstown State University and a Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from Tiffin University. He is also an O.P.O.T.A. certified self defense instructor. Lt. Crum is currently  in charge of training in many aspects of the correctional division. He is also a C.V.S.A. examiner.
