Once again, I am honored to have been elected and to serve as your
Lorain County Sheriff. I have been involved in police work for
over 31 years and I enjoy this line of work and interacting with people. The staff and myself are here to serve you, the citizenry. The
Lorain
County Sheriff's Office and all Sheriffs have the tradition and honor of serving the citizens of this great Country.
To give you a little history about myself, I was born and raised in the city of Lorain. I am the 3rd oldest of 9 children
and I have 5 sisters and 3 brothers. I graduated from Lorain High School in 1968 and joined the United States Navy, where I proudly served for 4 years.
After being honorably discharged in 1972 I enrolled at Lorain County Community College in Police Science. I took the Lorain Police examination in 1972 and was hired as a patrolman in April of 1973. I proudly served the citizens of Lorain for 13 years as a Lorain Police Officer.
I was asked to join the Lorain County Sheriff's Office by former and retired Sheriff Martin J. Mahony. I was promoted to Lieutenant and placed in charge of the Detective Bureau. In 1988 I was promoted to Captain in charge of Personnel/Administration. In 1990 I then was placed in charge of the Law Enforcement Division. In 1992 I was placed in charge of the Jail Division and Administration/Personnel. In November of 2000, I was elected by the citizens of Lorain County to serve as
your Sheriff.
I am happily married to Mary Jo Stammitti (nee:DeAngelis) and am the proud father of four daughters, Toni, Monica, Valerie, and Jessica. The only other males in my household are my (2) Labrador
retrievers, Dunson & Scooby. Thanks again for electing me Sheriff, I promise to serve to the best of my abilities and should anyone need to reach me at the Sheriff's Office you can call 329-3701 or email at prs@lorcnty.com
