Lieutenant Vansant started at the Lorain County Sheriffs Office in 1998 as a Corrections Officer. After completing the Police Academy in May of 2002, he began his career as a Reserve Patrolmen for the Village of Sheffield, while continuing to work full-time as a corrections officer at the Lorain County Correctional Facility. In 2003 he was deployed for Homeland Security with the Ohio Army National Guard. Upon his return, he was hired as a Deputy Sheriff in 2005 and assigned to the Road Patrol Division. Lieutenant Vansant has been assigned as a Field Training Officer, Township Impact Patrol Deputy, and Detective. In October of 2018, he was promoted to Sergeant where he was a shift Supervisor on the Afternoon shift as well as the Night shift. In July of 2019, he was promoted to Lieutenant where he is currently overseeing road patrol operations.
