Biography:
Lt. Randal Koubeck is a 1989 graduate of the Cuyahoga Community College Police Academy and began his law enforcement with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) as a Park Officer assigned to the Cleveland Lakefront. During his time with Cleveland Lakefront he was honored for an act of bravery while engaged in a water rescue operation and presented with ODNR’s Director Valor and Lifesaving award, as well as the United States Coast Guard Meritorious Public Safety award. In 1992 he accepted a position with Olmsted Township Police Department. During his time there he was recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driver (MADD) for his proactive efforts in OVI enforcement. In 1995 Lt. Koubeck accepted a position with the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office. He has proudly served with honor and distinction as a member of the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office for the past twenty three years. In 2017 he was name Officer of the Year, by the Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial Society. During his time with Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, Lt. Koubeck has enjoyed a variety of assignments. He has served as a Field Training Officer, Community Policing Officer, and Detective. In 2005 when promoted to Sergeant, he served as Administrative Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, and a road patrol supervisor. May 13, 2018 he was promoted to Lieutenant. He is presently a certified bomb technician and currently the Commander of the multi-agency Bomb Squad, coordinates the Opiate Overdose Response Team, and Honor Guard unit. He has served as an OPOTA certified police instructor and served twice as Commander of the Lorain County Sheriff’s Auxiliary Training Academy. He has also obtained his certified fire investigation certificate through the International Association of Arson Investigators. He serves as lead investigator and President with the Lorain County Association of Fire Investigators. Lt. Koubeck presently serves on the boards of the Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial Society and Northern Ohio Arson Seminar.
